ISO and Total Quality Management (TQM) at Dr. Mohan's DSC |

In December 1998, Dr. Mohan's DSC had the unique honour of becoming the World's first ISO 9001-2000 Certified Diabetes Centre. This recognition spurred us on to increase our quality activities. It was decided to implement Total Quality Management (TQM) at Dr. Mohan's DSC. Our Senior Manager- Quality Systems Ms. S.J. Parvathi and General Manager & Head-HR Mr. N. Thanigaimani have also played a big role in the implementation of the projects at our Centre.

January 1998 |
- Quality Management systems started at Dr. Mohan's DSC |

March 1998 |
- Quality Standards prepared according to ISO requirements and
Internal auditors underwent appropriate training programmes. |

November 1998 |
- Dr. Mohan's DSC declared as World's First ISO 9002-1994
Certified Diabetes Centre ! |

July 1999 |
- Inauguration of Total Quality Management (TQM) at Dr. Mohan's DSC |

January 2000 |
- Quality Circle Teams formed and regular Quality Circle Team
Meetings started to discuss quality improvement projects on
various areas. |

July 2000 |
- Dr. Mohan's DSC identifies 57 TQM projects in diverse areas
such as waiting time reduction, upgradation of technology,
housekeeping, improvement in diabetes control, prevention of
complications etc., all aimed at Patient Delight and Treatment
Satisfaction. |

April 2001 |
- 26 Quality Circle Meets have been held so far and 11 projects have
been successfully completed. |

May 2001 |
- Intensified Total Quality Management (TQM) training to the staff of
Dr. Mohan's DSC |

November 2001 |
- Dr. Mohan's DSC re-certified for ISO 9002-1994 |
|
|
January 2002 |
- Dr. Mohan's DSC the first Laboratory in Chennai to receive
National Accreditation Board for testing and Calibration Laboratory
(NABL) Accreditation. |

December 2002 |
- The Quality Management System was assessed and found to be in
Acordance with the requirement of the quality standards and was
certified for ISO 9001-2000. |

December 2002 |
- SMART Objectives are set for every dept, where time bound targets
are set and achieved. |

June 2004 |
- The branch at Anna Nagar was audited and Certified for ISO 9000-2001
Quality Standards. |

August 2005 |
- Continuous Quality improvement by reviewing and resetting the
Smart objectives of every department.
|

January 2006 |
- Committiees formed for clinical, medical and mortality audit and
review of these audits conducted on a regular basis. |

April 2006 |
- Started co-ordination of manuals for ISO certification of the
Hyderabad branch. |

September 2006 |
- Initialised the action plan for Six Sigma Achievement.
